911 Emergency Services
If experiencing an emergency call: 911
911 is a service number you can call when dealing with an immediate emergency. This can include serious suicidal ideation, attempted suicide, serious harm to yourself or others, or the threat of being harmed. A 911 responder will send police or other emergency services as needed. This service provides 24 hours support, 7 days a week and is free to use.

Durham Rape Crisis Centre

Support to women who have recent or historical experience with sexual assault, sexual harassment, and childhood sexual abuse. Provides educational information on how to keep oneself safe during abuse, and steps toward leaving the abuse.

MS Society Canada: Victim Support Line

Can provide services to victims of domestic violence. Provides referrals to community supports to people who are victims of crime, such as domestic violence.

Provides support for individuals and their families who have dealt with crime. This support can be used for individuals who have experienced domestic violence.

Support and Shelters

Bethesda House

Provides support to women, youth and children experiencing domestic violence. Supports include individual as well as group counselling, planning for safety with women and their children, helping mothers parent their children who have experienced abuse, and ongoing support after women have left the shelter. The shelter offers a place to stay for women after they have left an abusive relationship.

24/7 Support, Provides counselling, support, and a temporary place to stay for women and their children fleeing violence. Supports include creating a safety plan for a woman and her children, referrals to other community services, crisis and assistance through telephone or in-person at the shelter, and emergency shelter.

YWCA

This resource offers housing, support services, and community education and training. The YWCA offers help to women who are survivors of domestic violence, get the help that they deserve. The YWCA also supports the children of the women that have been abused. Check the website to find a YWCA near you.

Rexdale Women’s Centre

Provides one-on-one support to women experiencing domestic violence. There is a focus on immigrant and refugee women, who are more vulnerable to domestic violence, and this service provides to them the help they need to move forward.
